Government Renews Curfew and Enforces Movement Restrictions in Binduri Township

The Ministry for the Interior has, upon the advice of the Upper East Regional Security Council, renewed the curfew imposed on  Binduri Township and its environs  in the Upper East Region. The curfew takes effect Sunday, May 4, 2025, and will run daily from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

As part of enhanced security measures:

A total ban is placed on the carrying of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons.
Men are prohibited from wearing smocks within the affected areas.
The movement of motorbikes, tricycles, and ‘aboboyaa’ is strictly prohibited for both men and women.

The government urges all residents to exercise restraint refrain from acts of violence, and cooperate with security agencies to restore peace and order.

Any person found violating these directives will be arrested and prosecuted.

The Ministry appeals to Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, and the Youth to channel their concerns through peaceful and lawful means.
