Zorkor United SC will kick start their new season this weekend at home when they welcome Tili Awarey Stars FC in what promises to be one of the biggest opening fixtures in the Upper East football calendar.

The season opener comes amid significant changes behind the scenes at Zorkor United. Reliable sources within regional football circles have confirmed to this publication that the club is undergoing a major acquisition by Hon. Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, the Attorney General and Member of Parliament for Bolga East, in partnership with Prof. Michael Ayamga, Deputy CEO of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
While official confirmation is pending, the scale of the transformation suggests a substantial shift in the club’s ambitions. The most visible evidence is the seamless integration of the entire playing body and technical team from Tamale-based Kasalgu Arrow Heads FC into the Zorkor United structure.
Further signaling a fresh identity, the club has adopted new jerseys bearing the inscription “Zuarungu Soccer Bulls,” a nod to the area’s historic meat factory and the “de bull” cultural symbol synonymous with strength in Zuarungu football tradition.

Prof. Ayamga, who previously owned Kasalgu Arrow Heads, is applying his football administration experience to the new project. The club’s technical department has been significantly reinforced, now featuring veteran administrator Yahaya Mohammed, experienced tactician Baba Roy, and technical minds Raphael Afegra and Anamoo Romeo.
The move is seen as aligning with a growing trend of strategic football investment by Ghanaian politicians. Analysts point to similar, successful community-focused football models championed by figures like Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, MP for Tamale South, and former Hohoe MP, John Peter Amewu, who used the sport to foster local talent and stimulate economic activity.
Tuesday’s fixture against Tili Awarey Stars FC, therefore, represents more than just the start of a new league campaign. For supporters and observers in Bolga East, it symbolizes the dawn of a new era—one defined by renewed investment, a strengthened sense of identity, and a unified ambition to restore footballing pride to the constituency.
