Three years on what once seemed like a distant ambition has become a reality. Mr. Okraku was elected unopposed at 14th CAF extraordinary general Assembly in cairo 9and will serve a four-year term from 2025 to 2029 as part of CAF’s 24-member governing body.
His election makes him the sixth Ghanaian to hold a seat on the CAF Executive Committee, following in the footsteps of Ohene Djan, Kobina Hagan, Nana Fredua Mensah, Samuel Okyere, and Kwesi Nyantakyi.
This milestone is a testament to Mr. Okraku’s outstanding leadership at the GFA, where he has been instrumental in revitalizing Ghanaian football since taking office in 2019. His efforts in promoting transparency, strengthening grassroots football, advancing women’s football, and prioritizing youth development have earned him widespread recognition across the African football community.
Given Ghana’s rich football heritage, Mr. Okraku’s new role on the CAF EXCO is seen as a significant opportunity for the country. His presence on the committee will ensure that Ghana has a stronger voice in shaping the future of African football while contributing to the sport’s growth across the continent.
